The Vir Sidus Empire

Vir SIdus - Passive Vir Sidus Defensive Values 

 

 

    The Vir Sidus Empire springs from the Principality of the Land of a Thousand Lakes. It was founded when the First Emperor, Darius Firebrand, called the Emperor of Fire by some, began to expand the borders of his Principality.  After a series of conquests and political negotiations sever of the Hundred Kingdoms were joined into what is now called the Vir Sidus Empire.

 

The Provinces of the Empire are:

In addition to these areas there are a few nations that are considered Protectorates of the Empire.

Isus

Chronopolis

 

While Zanshee is ruled by the Kingdom of Fire, the Empire assists it’s close ally in policing the once war Like populace and assists in bringing it back to it’s once former abilty. Isus is protected by the Empire by mutual agreement.  Meanwhile, Chronopolis while technically apart of the Empire in that it occupies Empire soil, has it’s own system of government and laws significantly different from the Empire to be considered separate.

 

Those wishing to Join the Empire must agree to the Vir Sidus Articles of Statehood

 

    Early in it’s existence the Empire was considered a Vassel nation of the Realm and the Blessed Isle. This ended after several threats where leveled on the Empire from outside sources and it became appearant that the Empire would have to stand on it’s own two feet.  When it came time to give the next bout of Tribute the Empire refused and declared it’s independence. Shortly afterword the Emperor was assinated by his closest friend Cathak Zuriel. After a brief bit of Chaos when the Heir appearant disappeared, the Empire has chosen it’s new ruler who is the missing Heir appearant Wue Xi Firebrand. She had been moved to a safe location which suffered a traumatic Wyld accident that created a pocket and allowed her to age both mentally and physically to be age appropriate to become the next Ruler of the Empire.

    Since assuming the Throne of the Empire, the Empress has done much in securing her Empire and improving the lives of her people. Included in this is the controversial decision to make peace with the Greyfalls Satrapy, despite protests and arguments from the Senate that they were responsible for sending the Assasin Cathak Zuriel to murder Darius Firebrand in cold blood. 

 

    Social Ladders of the Empire

    The Empire consists of a Social ladder that is a blending of traditional Monarchial rule and a Democratic government.  What this means is that at the top is a Nobilty class of people. Individuals who were either born into their position, granted it as a reward for service to the Empire or in a few Province’s (Freehold and Livenworth) are voted into power by the Citizenry.  All social classes of the Empire are accountable for their actions and subject to Empirical Law regardless of social status.

 

The Nobilty Consist of:

 Knight: Men and women who are born into a Noble family but have not yet inherited their post, or are members of a society who have earned the rank (Beginning life as a Page, then a Squire and finally “Earning their Spurs” in a knighting ritual) Such orders are most notably the Whitre Cloaks (The Royal Guard) And the Legion Knight (Cavaliers in the Cavalry Dragons) Knights are addressed as Sir/Lady followed by the name. A Knight who is an heir to a Noble position would be Sir/Lady Noble Rank they would be inheriting followed by name. IE Sir Baron Justinious Diranth

 

 Steadholder: These men and women are given a patch of land to improve upon and usually consist of an area upto a full sized city.  Typically found on the edges of empire in new settlements this is a rnak that is most often awarded however as the Empire grows it si becoming more and more common to be born into it. They are addressed as Lord or Lady followed by name.

 

Count: Counts and Countesses are charged with governing a group of Steadholders in a given region. They make sure that the Lords under their charge are following Empirical Law and treating their Citizens and Subjects fairly. They are addressed as Your Grace, not allways followed by the name.

 

Baron: A baron is tasked with running an entire Province.  They ensure that the taxes are made, the roads are maintained and are in charge of the Civic Legions for their Province.  They are usually addressed as Your Eminence.

 

Emperor: Head of the Empire, over sees all of it. Currently the Empire is headed by Her Majesty Empress Wue Xi Firebrand, the Daughter of Darius and Min Li Firebrand.

 

    Below the Nobility is the Citizenry of the Empire. They are unique in the Hundred Kingdoms in that they are not Nobility, but are afforded many rights above other nations in the Hundred Kingdoms. They are permitted to have Indentured Servants (Provided they can afford their wages), Become Senators and  most importantly they can vote. Most if not all of the laws of the Empire are voted on by the Citizens of the Empire and brought before the Senate.

 

    The next step down are the Residents of the Empire. Men and women who have not earned the right to be called a Citizen. While they have basic rights, they can own land and even businesses, but are not permitted to vote or own indentured servants.  

 

Methods of becoming a Citizen

1. Serving int eh Legions for 2 full years and 1 Season.

2. Become a Doctor.

3. Become an Educator

4. Purchase the right (Resource 4 purchase)

5. Exalted are considered Citizens

6. God Blooded are considered Citizens

 

The Empire has a Standing Army that is probolly only second in abilty, size and Strength to Lookshy. This is becuase every Male between the ages of 18 and 25 are expected to serve at least One year and one season in the Legions if they are physically capable of doing so. This includes the Nobility. Something that may surprise many of the 100 Kingdoms is that the Nobility is treated exactly the same as the Residents or Citezenry of the Empire while in service and some Nobles may end up being basic Infantry Linemen in the Legions serving under a Resident Captain.

Religion -

Religion in the Empire is a very broad thing and there is no national religion. Only restricted religions. 

The Restricted Religions are:

1. Ancestor Cults

2. Death Cults

3. Yozi Worship

4. Any religion that gains power from human sacrifice.

 

     The only real set religion that the Empire has was found in the Legions. The God of War Fourth Spear of Rage is widely worshiped throughout the Legion. While no formal temple has been created, Legionaires do send the occasional prayer to the Legion's patron diety. It is also rumored that the Cascade Falls monestary has a wing devoted to this God of the Legions.

 

     However as increased presence of the Immaculate Order the Empire has been leaning more and more to the Immaculate faith. Beyond temples being constructed, Monks have been a presence inside the Empire teaching and instructing the people in the benevolence of the Dragons.

 

     Temples are a rare site in the Empire, but also not unheard of. There is a small temple to the immaculate faiht inside the Capital city of Kyoga. It rests on the shore  of the primary lake and is well maintained. The Three Roots have a temple dedicated to the God of their Lake. It also rest alone the lake's shore and besides being well maintained, the Water Witch is said to be a priestess and when she is not performing her Legion duties, is present at the temple.  Steel Wind has a God of Beauracracy at it's heart, and the entire Central Buero chamber is a place of worship, in the form of paperwork.  These are just the primary temples inside the Empire. Each village has it's own sets of traditions and worship practices.

     Though rare, the Immaculate Order has begun to build temples in the the Empire. Primarily in the Thousand Lakes Province. Though they disdain the practice of other deities they are not moving in an aggresive manner to take over the religion of the region, but are instead coming to teach and enligten.

Operation Perseverance

     Operation Perseverance is a plan that is enacted should the Emperor ever find himself Killed or possibly is about to die. Either after being told, or after recieving a Wind Carried Word from the Emperor the Captain of the Thousand Lakes Civic Legion sends up a signal fire. A special Dye is used to color the smoke Blue. Half an hour in a log of red dye is thrown in turning the smoke very pueple and thus confirming th order. (Very few people know about the Red log.)

     At this point the Signal fire is repeated down the line to every major city in the empire. Putting every Civic Legion on alert. This also put the Legions inside the Empire on alert status. Their officers securing the capitals of the Provinces they reside in and the Miltary Head Quarters they claim.  White Cloaks spirit the Heir appearant to an undisclosed location (Which changes every month) for her protection from those who might exploit the sitution. Senators are called to the Senatorial chamber.

     The Empire stays in a state of High Military Alert for one season. Securing all borders, calling all sodiers home. At this point the Senators will have gotten the Empire running smoothly agian, seen to the line of succension, and is ready to announce the New Emperor/Empress.

3. Colin Dawnblade (Prince Son of Cyranel and an unnamed NPC who died in the Quelling.)

4. Cathak Adrian (Knight Prince, son of Zuriel and Cyranel)

 

 

     The Next ruler of the Empire must be at least Sixteen at the time of Coranation, otherwise a Regent, usually the Next in line after the Heir Appearant, will rule with the Senators of the nation until the Heir comes of Age. Should no Line of Succession be available (IE all Heirs are DEAD) The Senators will vote on the Current Barons of the Empire over which one is most suited to take the Throne.
