Sentinel's Hill
The Council Tower dominates the looming rise of Sentinel Hill, lesser buildings circling its skirts in ragged circles of habitation creeping down the hillside. The solid ground of the hill has encouraged much building, and tall building at that- laundry-lines run out paired windows even five stories above the cobbled streets. Shops and teahouses fill the lower levels, a constant crush of citizens and visitors all sweeping through the narrow streets about their appointed duties. The elevation does much to mute the ashy smoke of the foundries, and the rivulets of filth that trickle in the gutters slide down towards Firewander or the river with minimal reek in their wake. Only a few remnants of Firewander's changes can be seen, the occassional exotic flower or broken vine manifesting near the district's edges.
The styles of architecture are as chaotic here as in the rest of Nexus. Luxurious estates are crowded next to teeming tenements of wood and plaster, and the smell of cheap lathe burning is common in the cramped streets. As many of the buildings appear to be coming down as are yet rising, and makeshift fire companies rush through the streets to hurl another bucket of dirty water at their employer's burning property. The occasional absent bet is placed on their odds of success, but most of the citizens here have far more important matters to concern them.
