Log: Logos Intro to Celestial Bureaucracy 101

Page history last edited by Koal 15 years, 4 months ago

Characters: Rowan, Ledaal Kyrie, Old Tom, Mnemon Koal

Scholars of Logos briefly discuss the proper etiquette of interacting with the gods.

One of the required classes for all the programs is taught late in the afternoon. Typically, it's in the mornings, but alas, the headmistress was busy in the morning. Thus, the large lecture hall starts filling up with the entire population of the school. At most, it's twenty people right now, so the lecture hall is a bit spacious. So, at the urgings of the elementals, students are ushered forward so they can see the blackboard and everything...

Mnemon Koal has his notebook out, flimsy in comparison to the size of his fists, pen perched precariously therein and ink standing to the side. He appears deep in thought, maybe daydreaming even.

Sitting in the far back of the classroom, puffing gently on a lit pipe, is Old Tom in his typical garb. His face is lit by the ruddy coals of the pipe, as well as the glowering, molten bronze tattoos. He is not a student, but he rests there anyway, awaiting the lecture.

Rowan always sits near the front of the class, the better to see and hear what's said. He prefers a graphite stick for taking notes, and his pad is open and ready.

"Today, we will discuss the Celestial Bureaucracy.." Kyrie says matter of factly as she heads towards the blackboard. She's in her usual savant's robes, sky blue as she runs her fingers through her hair. "Are there any questions from the previous lecture? And as a reminder, progress on your semester projects will be due by the end of calibration.."

Tom lets out a large cloud of bitter smoke of charr-leaves, leaning back to take in the information.

Rowan settles his paper in front of him, double checking to make sure his stick is sharp and that he's got extras already sharpened handy.

Mnemon Koal raises his hand and asks "Why are the local courts so difficult to approach? When I was performing my investigation, I was only able to get aide from Amasu, but the actual courts were difficult to approach. Are not the spirits obligationed to aide us in our duties...the Blooded I mean?"

"I realize the Order normally handles such dealings." Koal adds.

"Well, that begs the question, how did you approach them?" Kyrie asks curiously, always relying on the Socratic method of teaching (he was a famous air aspect afterall..teehee!) as she starts pacing the classroom. Her eyes remain intently focused on Koal as she waits for his answer. "What makes you think that they are obligated to aide us in our duties?"

Tom turns to look at Koal, one-eyebrow raised in anticipation.

Mnemon Koal pauses in thought, remembering back. "I offered them proper sacrifices and prayer as a sign of respect and the great need I had at the time...which of course Hrath later told me was wrong to do, and they seemed accepting of my approach at first, but they simply said that what I was asking for was not their job, only Amasu's. I assumed the Gods were obligated to aide our requests because we are the defenders of Creation, and they are a part of it too, if not its rulers...the Immaculate Order even sets the prayer schedules, it is implied."

Rowan listens, curious to hear Kyrie's response.

"That the Gods are supposed to aide the Chosen." Koal clarifies.

"Part of offering a prayer to the gods means you know what their job is. Offering a prayer for health and well being to a god of doorways and gates will do you no good. In this case, Amasu is the deity of what, Koal?" she asks curiously, her brows still raised.

     "Greyfalls", Koal answers."

"You know, the woman that sits way at the back of the temple during Immaculate Texts Reading times...she isn't a woman." Koal clarifies."

""Well, what exactly did you offer her? I need a bit more information.." Kyrie says matter of factly..

Mnemon Koal raises his hands in a defensive sort of gesture that reminds you of the closing of a stone gate. "Amasu gave me all the help she could, although it wasn't much. I mean why weren't the other Gods even willing to lift a finger to help considering there may have been a large scale supernatural killer on the loose?"

"Amasu, as the city god, has a responsibility over Greyfalls. The deities underneath her, do not necessarily have the responsibility or the authority of intervening in such matters of the flesh.." she says matter of factly before she blinks for a few moments as she gets the wind carried words of her most fabulous cousin. A delighted squeal escapes from her lips as she lets out an impish giggle.

"It seems, one of the most infamous Gateway players, my illustrious cousin, Ledaal Kes is visiting Greyfalls. He's looking for worthy challenges and is currently bored, even though he just arrived. I think I'm calling class early. We'll continue next time.."
