Log: Fudou meets Chu

Page history last edited by wastevens@... 15 years, 6 months ago

PCs: Cynis Chu, Fudou

The moon is half-shadow, hanging in the sky like a broken lantern, as Chu sits wearily down in one of the shrines that dots Trakar. Once dedicated to the River Bear, the old iconography has been torn away, and other, more pliant gods have a shared altar. The monk's just happy to have a place to bed down for the night, outside of the wind. Even if the shrine has not been well attended lately- between Minus' damnable song and the murders, well... People aren't as fond of worship as they once were.

A low whistling sound slowly becomes audible. The sound building up in intensity as the seconds pass and growing steadily stronger while at the same time some sort of shadow passes over the area, centering upon the shrine itself and momentarily blocking out the sight of the moon. Those outside and near to the shrine look up to bear witness to a shape descending towards the shrine in a total free fall, blurring its way towards the structure like an incoming meteor until with a sudden thunderous roar and a resounding *BOOOM* that peals through the area - the shape blasts its way through the top of the shrine to descend rapidly towards the surface of Creation itself, impacting once again in a violent plume of dust and debris that expands upwards and outwards to fill the interior of the building. The structure sways and the earth trembles under the dramatic force. Even as the quakes continue and slowly dim, the hugely muscled figure of Fudou begins to emerge from the violence and fallen debris. Unharmed but lightly wreathed in a gentle silver halo that contrasts against the destruction he just caused.

Cynis Chu's breath catches at the silver light, cutting through the dust and the gloom of night. Tired as he is, it's just a breath before he's drawn his bow, an arrow nocked and quivering. "Demon!" he shouts from inside the shrine. "Your kind may have told you the Order holds no more sway in these lands- my arrows and arts say you friend is a Deceiver, and born to lie! Run, if you value your life!"

Fudou's response is the removal of his lopsided hat and he begins to dust off the remaining debris that stays upon him. He eyes Chu and then replaces the hat before turning fully to face the Dynast, "I don't mean you any harm or ill will - my entrance aside. Buildings can be rebuilt. People less so. Put away your arrow, I'll not lay a hand on you..though I've no means to swear a holy oath.." He does not approach but remains in place, facing Chu solidly, "I make no apologies for Trakar's actions, nor do I come in vengeance. These lands were taken by you in war, after all."

Cynis Chu hesitates for a long moment, before steadying- leaving the arrow nocked and tight, but not loosing it. Aiming carefully. "Then leave this place. The Anathema are not welcome here, nor may you take the souls of the people here, nor slaughter then in your Frenzies. Depart, or I will drive you screaming back into the outer dark."

Fudou grins slowly, "Wow..." Is all he rumbles in response to the monks statement, "That's very impressive soundin'. It almost makes me want to bow my knees in worship." He loosens his huge arms a little bit and then rumbles, "I would tell you to take your best shot but..that seems rather pointless.. I simply want to deliver a warning and a message. On the one hand, anything I say is going to be twisted by you into me having said something profane somehow..but.." he gestures absently, "On the other hand if I -don't- say it then ethically I'm in th ewrong for at least not warning you.."

Cynis Chu snorts at that, making no further reply. Staring at Fudou along the length of the arrow.

"I see you agree." rumbles Fudou, still grinning broadly. "There have been murders here of late and terror tactics used against these people. I"m aware of Minus' efforts to undermine the spread of this faith in this land but I'm also aware of efforts to use fear and murder to drive these poor barbarians back into your arms. This is not the only place this has happened, though I don't know that they're unrelated. Do you deny this?"

Cynis Chu hesitates for a moment, a crack appearing in his eyes. It's rapidly covered back up. "There have been murders- but they started with the rise of that accursed song. They're doubtless being done by the demons of your fellow Anathema- killing those few and precious faithful who remain strong in the Philosophy against the tricks and lies of the Deceiver."

"Use your brain." suggests Fudou, "You and I both know that the more zealous members of your faith won't hesitate to kill a toddler if they suspect that they might have exalted as a celestial and that individuals of your own kind have fallen upon one another over different intrepretations of your beliefs. This wouldn't be the first time that this sort of thing has happened in this faith and it won't be the last. It is not your faithful that have been killed but your faithless - scors of them. Think."

"No!" Chu shouts, taking a step forward. "The Immaculate Philosophy is followed by fallable men and women, true, and I would kill any child who showd the false light of the Anathema with a glad heart and a song on my lips- but we are NOT responcible for this! You and your foul breed are." The arrow pulls back the tiniest bit further. "I have spoken; I will not waste further breath upon you. Leave these lands, tell your master Bear that I will not be swayed. If it should take me until the Age turns and the Dragons come again, I will hunt him down and I will pierce him, and I will /break his soul in my bare hands/! Go now!"

"A pity that." rumbles Fudou, shaking his head, "...I can see that the very notion that this is true shakes you." Fudou gestures with a huge hand, "What, monk, will you do, if it comes out that you and yours -do- have some responsbility for these murders? That in other lands and in this one as well, there are those who think as I've described? How will you handle that? What will you think? Do you mean to tell me that you and yours are totally incapable of this sort of behaviour?"

Cynis Chu releases the arrow, aiming directly for and, short as it flies, already has two more drawn, pulled back and loose, whistling after the first. He's half-pacing away as he shoots, a grim determination showing on his face. No more words, anymore. Just arrows.

He should be a glacier, so huge and vast is this man - but 'should be' doesn't seem to be quite enough. The arrows seem to get mere centimeters from Fudou's form, as the giant slowly grins, before he suddenly moves in a blur of activity that takes him just to the side of the incoming artillery. HIs great-coat sweeps up and around him, trailing behind him in a blur of silver movement as he spins on his feet and snatches up after the loosed arows, catching them out of the air and pulling them into his grasp betwixt meaty fingers. "Why are you attacking me? Is this your response to challenges to your blind-faith?"

"My faith isn't blind; there's just no point in wasting my breath exhorting you to leave. And to see and listen to the wicked is the beginning of wickedness," Chu retorts, firing another trio of arrows while continuing to back away.

Fudou's enormous hand comes up as the next trio of arrows blur towards him and this time he allows them to strike against his flesh. The arrow impact solidly against his meaty from but seem to do little after the first initial mark that scores lightly against his flesh. Silver essence flares around the giant as his brow unveils the sigil of the full moon, briefly illuminating the room in the pale glow of Luna's glory and shining through the windows to the outside as well. The light dies down again, revealing Fudou once more.. The giant rops the arrows to the ground before him as he rumbles, "Alright. I'll leave. I didn't come here to kill you. But let me say this one last thing then."

Cynis Chu snorts, firing off another three arrows. That he's had little success thus far hasn't seemed to much deter him.

The arrows strike home again, rebounding off of the behemoths flesh and spinning away harmlessly to fly towards a the walls and pews. Fudou's eyes hood somewhat but he just grins and bows, lowering his head and sweeping his hat down, "I applaud yer bravery, monk. You are truly a testament to your kind. But you know as well as I that you are not enough here, so just listen." Undoubtly, if Chu is peresistent..mor arrows will come, but Fudou on the defensive is a hard nut to crack so he continues speaking if he has to dodge or otherwise absorb the attacks or no, "You know as well as I that these murders are being done by your own hands. I will give you a space of time to reveal these murderers and to issue justice to them. If you refuse? I will begin my own brand of investigation. I'm neither subtle, nor gentle and my inestigations will result in physical destruction of your efforts here. You don't want that do you? If you create a scapegoat or if your superiors use a scapegoat and not the true perpetrators..I -

will- know..and will also act with appropriate levels of response. Find the true killer or killers and all will be well. I've no quarrel with you personally and I'm not here to 'help Minus'. I only want justice."

Cynis Chu pauses, and actually starts to laugh at that. It's not a crazy laugh, not the laugh of someone deranged. It's the real, deep belly laugh of a man who's just seen something completely ridiculous. "By the sower of grass," Chu manages between laughs. "Are the Anathema all so desperate that they must issue demands they know won't be followed?" He re-levels the bow at that, drawing another arrow. "The Immaculate Faith and the Realm will end your foul grip over these lands, and send you screaming back to the Wyld places you came from. My kind will Hunt you and yours down, forever. Whatever you claim to love, we will ruin. Whatever you wish to protect, we will burn. Whatever deeds you believe will be sung about you when your body is ash and your demon-soul fled, we will still- until even the whispers of your legend are forgotten by the oldest savant and read about in forbidden books crumbling to dust. You will be Hunted, and you will be destroyed, in every sense of the word."

"No." says Fudou, growing deadly serious for the first time here. He will not be mocked, it seems, "We say what we say because we are what your texts state we are not. Because we are people with ethics, with honor and with beliefs. If I went forth adn began simply destroying you and your temples and digging deep for myself or otherwise acting without being provoked, even though it is to preserve these people..and did so without giving you a warning or a chance to do right - Then I -would- be the monster. Not to you, because you have your beliefs - but to myself and to those who are not blinded by the lies your faith perpertrates. Now you -have- been warned and the blood is off of my hands. You've not been brainwashed. If you were, it'd be different. You -can- make a choice here. To decide for yourself what to do be it to heed my words or no. If you -choose- to not think for yourself then that and the consquences are on your head."

Cynis Chu is done with talking again, it seems, firing off another trio of arrows. A triffle stubborn, it seems.

"You are persistent, but I know you've heard me here and you'll not forgot my visit." Fudou grins again suddenly and then leaps, pouncing up towards the hole he created when he fell in and again dodging the arrow strike. He hangs there from the rafters which creak dangerously from hsi bulk as he intones, "Goodbye, good monk! Alas for my heroic heart..as I won't make a martyr out of you despite you trying to kill me! Remember me!" And he suddenly hauls his huge body back up and upon the roof. There's a momentary dangerously low rumble and creaking sound as the building groans under his weight - but suddenly it's gone as if the giant just disappeared. Sharp ears may detect the flapping of wings.

Cynis Chu draws back a last arrow, and waits for the huge Frenzied to reappear. When the hulking thing declines to show, he frowns, then approaches slowly. "I won't," he says softly. "First, the Bear, then you. I will cleanse these lands, however. And make them secure for the Faith, for the good of the people and Creation."
