Log: Small Talk in a Burning Village

Page history last edited by Forbidden Blossom 14 years, 9 months ago

Synopsis: Forbidden Blossom comes upon Black Silk Star under dark circumstances.

Location: Somewhere near Densandor

Recorded: June 30, 2009

Cast: Forbidden Blossom, Black Silk Star

The night is by emerald flames and terrible shadows.

The village is mostly empty at this point. Several dead bodies lay scattered about, eyes staring upwards, unseeing. Standing aboard his crystalflame board, hovering a few feet in the air, Black watches impassively. A villager is held a few yards away from him, his arms outstretched, long deep wounds along the length of both. Golden blood pours forth, gathering into a large tub at the ground, drop by drop. Black is garbed in black, his velvet cloak making him a shadow in the night- only the highlighting of the green fire around him and the even deeper blackness of the infinitely tight spiral drawn upon his forehead even through the hood make him easy to see against the night sky.

Drawn to the light like a moth, the white-garbed Blossom makes her way towards the village with quick, quiet steps. She stops by a dead body, crouching before it as she reaches towards its face. "Hello?", she says, touching, and then sighs. "Oh, you're not going to answer any of my questions...", she realizes, pouting slightly as she makes her way closer to the light. Her white clothes flicker green in the light as she moves closer, though she makes no move to announce herself just yet. Curiousity instead pushes her forward, and politeness is put aside.

Black Silk Star mms to himself.

The man in the air is shakes once, and then /squeezed/, a terrible pressure virtually pulping his arms. A few last drops of golden liquid fall into the tub. The man is discarded.

Star mms, looking towards the woman in white. He cruises down, and towards her. "Good evening," he offers, giving the woman a strange look. "You must be no one to trifle with."

Forbidden Blossom nods a bit in acknowledge, looking a bit sheepish as she says, "I don't know, not many trifle with me these days." She sniffs, and then adds, "You look familiar. We've met, haven't we?" Walking closer, he looks down into the bucket, and then back to Star with an attentive expression.

Black Silk Star ahs, and nods. "I believe so. At the Coventicle, yes?" His tragedian frown twitches. "Well, a pleasure again. Although I do wish I could offer better decorum- but I need the material." He kicks the tub- it 'thumps' solidly, and you can see it is suprisingly deeply with buttery-rich gold, flecked with spots of red. The liquid seems to be solidifying, merging with the whole. "Orihalcum, as it turns out, not so easy to find."

"Material? That's Orichalcum? It seems so... fluid...?", Blossom says with puzzlement as her attention returns to the bucket. She looks back up to Star, stepping back out of his work. "Why, all of these people are filled with it? How peculiar!", she says with some enthusiasm.

Black Silk Star chuckles. "Most aren't. But... I have my ways." He sighs, considering the tub. "I do wish there were another way, frankly. But the natural reserves are heavily guarded, and I haven't the time to distill it more naturally." He sits on the board, lowering so his feet can graze the turf. "Still- neither here nor there. What has brought a lady of quality such as yourself so far into the wilderness?"

"What sort of way?... or... I won't pry, though I admit it would be useful to have just a bit." Looking up to him, she tilts her head. "Oh, I was leaving Walker In Darkness' camp to start north, and... I saw your light. It didn't seem right to just let it be. I hope you dom't mind too much!" She smiles, as if not terribly ashamed of the 'intrusion'.

Black Silk Star mms. "Not especially," he replies. Leaning forward, he offers a hand. "Black Silk Star, soon to be master of the City of Makers, at your service."

Forbidden Blossom takes the hand lightly. "Oh! I just spoke to a man that seems to be saying the same. I do hope you'll be able to resolve your differences peaceably." She grins again, though it's a funny expression, rather like suppressed laughter.

Black Silk Star's eyes narrow. "Oh? And who was this man?"

Forbidden Blossom sets her hand rest in his. "The Walker In Darkness. You're heard of him, I imagine?"

Black Silk Star waves a hand vaugely. "The Deathlord will arrive too late. My work is already well apace, and I have no army to slow me down."

"Oh, is that so? How wonderful! I do hope I can get an invitation. It wouldn't do for it to remain such a lonely place.", Blossom says, leaning around as if to look past in the direction of the city, and then sways back to meet Star's eyes.

A long, considering look. "Well. And what would you do, to make Desenador a more lively residence?"

Forbidden Blossom stares back for a moment, and then bows her head, laughing. "Well, certainly I would concede to your plans, but... we do have people persecuted through the Scavenger Lands. Though I would think I would probably do more than any mortal to keep a place lively. I am working on a play or two, as well, though... it has been intended for a different sort of theater."

Black Silk Star nods slightly. The flames ripple around him as he does so, beginning to dampen slightly.

"Facinating. Are you much interested, then, in the faithful?"

Forbidden Blossom smiles. "Ah, it is interesting, I suppose, not in them, but... in making them more than they are. They are such rough material to work with, but I do have some talents in making into things our masters might even appreciate." She waves it off, adding. "I have an advisor that does help with that sort of matter, as well."

Black Silk Star mms, an eyebrow arching. "A girl with a large hammer and a lack of clothing?"

Forbidden Blossom puts her hand to her cheek in surprise. "Oh, no, I mean within myself. A girl with a large hammer, you say? Hm. I didn't... no. Not at all."

Black Silk Star mms, his frown deepening. "We may have an issue then. A traitor."

Forbidden Blossom looks surprised, leaning closer. "A traitor? Who would even try...?" She twists her lips in a bothered expression, as if the very idea were a bit too troubling.

Black Silk Star shrugs slightly. "I didn't get her name. When I'm done here, I intend to investigate. A byblow- not one of the Princes." His eyes glitter in the darkness. "The goddess Aliasi was giving her some shelter."

"I will be wary.", Blossom replies, and then tilts her head. "There have been other kin, spawn, helping about here and there. I should let them know when I can. A traitor..." She sighs, and smiles. "... could be interesting."

Black Silk Star's mouth twitches again. "Indeed. I can hardly imagine the fun to be had. Alas that my own labors keep me so busy."

Forbidden Blossom says, "A traitor, working against her very heritage to try and overcome it... but those stories don't end well, do they? Heroic sacrifice, maybe..." She giggles, and clasps her hands. "Well, I suppose I shouldn't keep you from them for so long."

Black Silk Star nods, and grunts slightly.

The tub lifts into the air, shakes for a moment. Then the container part falls away, leaving only the huge block of rich, golden material. It glows like brass in the heatless flame of the emerald anima. "I suppose not, sister. Enjoy your wanderings."

"Oh, one last thing.", Blossom starts. "It seems I'm working for Walker, so should it seem a useful thing, do get in touch."

Black Silk Star's eyebrow rise at the casual phrase. "Interesting. I trust you won't mention this evening to him?"

Forbidden Blossom hmps and rolls her eyes, "I an a Minister of Propaganda. Alerting him of something his able ghosts and scouts could perform is clearly outside my purview."

Black Silk Star nods slightly. "It sometimes bears repeating what our purviews are," he replies gravely.

With which words, he rises, and begins to cruise away.

Forbidden Blossom smiles. "Oh, don't bother yourself too much over mere circumstance. Good evening, Black Silk Star." She curtsies, before moving to head off northward.
