Artifact House Rules:

House Rules: Wonders of the Demon Realm

Utility Artifact Listing -- A comprehensive list of what non-combat artifacts are permitted from Core and the Codex.

Weapons Artifact Listing -- As Utility Artifact Listing, but for weapons.

Crimson Bows are no longer Banned, but changed.

Perfected Kata Bracers are banned.

Rings of Being are banned.

Skinmount Amulets are just hearthstone amulets with a skin graft instead of a necklace.

Warstriders follow the general artifact creation rules as per Oedenals,

THUNDERBOLT SHIELDS have been removed.  They are replaced with the following:

AEGIS OF DIVINE PROTECTION (Artifact 2): Provide a +2 Cover bonus to DV (5m or 8m)

AEGIS OF INFINITE PROVIDENCE (Artifact 4): Provides a +3 Cover bonus to DV (8m or 12m)

Aegises manifests in various fashions. Most /commonly/ it can appear as an exceptionally large shield- however, for some it is an all but invisible semi-mobile force, requiring neither hands nor thought.

If the user attunes to an Aegis as a shield, it is only ever manifests as a shield of pure essence. The user may not use their off hand for anything, and if asleep or otherwise Inactive, the Aegis provides no cover.  This costs 5m (Artifact 2) or 8m (Artifact 4).

If the user attunes to an Aegis as an independent protective force, it costs 8m (Artifact 2) or 12m (Artifact 4). However, the cover bonus always applies, even if the bearer is using a two handed weapon, asleep, or otherwise would not gain the benefit of their DV. Because that's how cover works.

Flight artifacts have underwent the following changes:

BELT OF AERIAL MOBILITY (Artifact 2)

This belt of blue jade holds a single hearthstone. It may be attuned for 1 mote; without attunement, it weighs enough to give a -1 mobility penalty, and the hearthstone doesn't work.

When activated for two motes, the wearer can move through the air as if they had a solid staircase to where-ever they want to go, and hover in mid air as if standing on solid ground. The activation lasts one scene.

WINGS OF THE RAPTOR (Artifact 3)

These cloaks are optimized for long distance flight. The clasp holds one hearthstone. A three mote commitment allows the clasp to function as a hearthstone amulet.

By reflexively committing another three motes, the wearer can unfurl the cloak in to wings. These wings allow the wearer to fly with the grace of a falcon. The exalt may move straight up at his normal speed, forwards at twice his normal speed, or down at five times his normal speed. However, a swift dive, or other aerial acrobatics, used with a Guard action could give enemies up to a -3 external penalty to target him with attacks. There is no upper limit as to how long the Exalt may keep these wings so unfurled, and flying in this fashion is no more fatiguing than a light jog.

TRANSCENDENT PHOENIX PINIONS (Artifact 3)

These are wings of the raptor with a distinct aesthetic.

Modification to Artifact Armor (from the core):

All artifact armors get hearthstone sockets. One and two-dot armors get one socket; three and four-dot get two, five-dot get three.

In addition, artifact armors above one dot get an array of accessories. Each 'accessory' costs one point except when specified otherwise; artifact armors get (Artifact Rating - 1) points to customize with.

  • Integral Weapons: You can choose either the 1 pt, 2 pt, or 3 pt version, but you can't mix.
    • Integral Weapons 1 (1 pt): Includes either Smashfists or God-Kicking Boots.
    • Integral Weapons 2 (2 pt): Includes both Smashfists and God-Kicking Boots.
    • Integral Weapons 3: Includes either Smashfists or retractable Razor Claws, and God-Kicking Boots.
  • Spikes: Includes a Bloodspike Harness
  • Solid: +2 equipment bonus against knockdown and knockback.
  • Sturdy: +2 equipment bonus against stun.
  • Hardened: Piercing weapons cannot reduce armored soak below the armor's hardness rating. Charms, or other sources that grant the piercing effect, still can.

There is no additional attunement rating for the hearthstone sockets, Solid, Sturdy, or Hardened. Integrated weapons, including the Bloodspike Harness, require additional attunement equal to half the normal artifact weapon. All of this is redacted.

Hearthstone House Rules:

The basic basis by which we judge the power level of hearthstones is that they should fall somewhere between an artifact of their rating and an artifact of one rating lower in terms of usefulness.

The Gem of Adamant Skin is summarily disallowed.

Gemstones of Surface Thoughts always require an opposed roll of Perception+Awareness vs. Wits+Integrity, simply because there are no rules in place for how obvious the gemstone is, nor how one could detect its use.  An unexpected social attack out of a 2-dot hearthstone would be ridiculous anyway.

The Gem Of Inhuman Beauty now prevents you from ever looking bad. In addition to the cosmetic effects of ignoring penalties to your appearance from being covered in blood or etc., you simply never suffer a penalty to your social actions due to having a lower Appearance. Your MDV's are never reduced by having a lower appearance, and the MDV's of your opponent are never raised. Furthermore, you are treated as having an Appearance of +4 (max of 7) purely for the purposes of determining how sexually attractive you are to appropriate partners.

Celestial Fare (The Food of the Gods):

Celestial Wine is a potent mixture, which immediately brings solace to those wounded, sickened or injured and furthermore produces a potent euphoria. This intoxication makes focusing on matters other than revelry difficult, incurring a -2 internal penalty to all actions for several hours that do not involve celebrating and having a good time (combat does not qualify, not suited to the 'mood' of the high despite how relaxing the individual may find it). Imbibing the wine causes a healing energy to preserve and repair the pattern of the character drinking it, but the body must fully digest the mixture for this to occur. The beneficial effects described in Exalted : Core take a full five minutes to manifest, instead of occuring instantly.
