Thaumaturgy

XP/BP Costs for Arts

The xp costs of Degrees in the Arts of Thaumaturgy are changed from 10 xp or 5 bp (8 xp or 4 bp for those who favor it) to a progressive scale.  An initiate degree costs 5/4 xp or 3/2 BP; an adept degree costs 10/8 xp or 5/4 BP; a master degree costs 15/12 xp or 7/6 BP. If you purchased Degrees in Thaumaturgical Arts before this rule was laid down, let Kukla know so he can reimburse you.

Embrace of Mela (2, Intelligence, 3, one hour):

The formula is highly reactive with air. Whenever it comes into contact with air, the substance expands into a fluffy cube of solidifed air 5 yards along the side. The substance takes one second to fully form into a cube. The cube lasts for a mere ten seconds.

Most common uses are as a portable cover or a landing pad for a falling soldier. If used as cover it stops all mundane archery attacks but as it is transparent it allows the two parties to see each other clearly (the use of any Charm to supplement an Archery attack defeats the resin). If used as a landing pad by a falling soldier he must succeed at a Wits + Athletics roll to hit the pad correctly. A failure means the soldier misses and hits the ground at terminal velocity (25B piercing as per Core rules page 126).

The formula is in fact a liquid in its neutral state and usually placed in an easily breakable glass vial. A preferred deliver method of falling soldiers is to load it into a crossbow and fire it at the ground when they're about 100 yards above the surface giving it the necessary time to fully deploy.
