High Quarter

     The tall buildings so favored in Greyfalls are richly adorned on the western side of the High Quarter, bright colors and fine carvings visible at doorways and windowsills. Many of the better class of the city seem to prefer being in close proximity to the graceful pleasures of Alder Park, and the brisk attentiveness of the city watch is plain amid the hurrying crowds. More than a few city estates can be found there, courtyards walled off from the bustle of the streets outside.

    Towards the eastern side, the district turns to a more commercial flavor. The great North Gate takes in traffic from all over the River Provinces, goods unloaded on the docks to the south marching out on yeddim-carts and the backs of bearers as they venture into the surrounding land to sell to villagers and tribesmen. Tradesmen of all kinds cluster along the streets, quick to offer all the little necessities that a merchant might find needful on a journey.

    With so many tribesmen and foreigners pouring in through the northern gate, the insignia of the Realm's greatness have been thickly marked in this district. Banners and decorations crowd the way with riots of bright color and inspiring image. Most impressive of all, however, is Victory Plaza, and the towering marble statue of the Empress that gazes sternly south towards the lesser portal that is the Canal Gate.
