Five Days Darkness

God of Calibration

When the Unconquered Sun first shed his light across the world, it cast a shadow. But as Sol Invictus was no mere light but a god, so too did this shadow become more than a mere absence of light. It took the form of the Unconquered Sun, and sought its own destiny, as the Unconquered Sun eventually would.

For a time, it dwelt in the dark places, in the court of the Primordial now known as the Ebon Dragon, and became the consort of Erembour. And yet the shadow was unsatisfied, yearning for a place in Creation. Yet it found it could not bear the light of the Unconquered Sun, nor of Luna, nor even the Five Maidens. And so the shadow knew that the heavens were not for it. Still, though, there might be a place for it in Creation. It came to the Court of Seasons, offering its own dark wisdom and mastery of Charms in exchange for a place among them -- and they mocked and rejected him.

This was too much for the shadow. It was one thing to reach for the heavens and simply not be able to gain them; he bore the Incarnae no ill will. But to be insulted so... and so the shadow cast aside its anonymity. It claimed the days of Calibration, calling itself Five Days Darkness, and began to build his machinations to humble the Court of Seasons and the calendar gods.

When the Primordial War broke out, Five Days Darkness was torn. At one time he had been welcomed by the Ebon Dragon. But he could not turn away from the god who forged him from nothing. And so when the warriors of the Exalted hunted the Ebon Dragon, they did so with the counsel and cunning of Five Days Darkness. And so it was that the master of deception and shadow was lessened, and cast into Malfeas.

Personality

Somber and sad, Five Days Darkness relishes the time he has to interact with others. Eternally separated from his creator, yet eternally desiring to reach him, he presents a wry face to the world and a sardonic tone to his remarks. He is not devoid of honor, despite being marked as a creature of darkness -- and in some ways can even be a force for good in the Age of Sorrows.

Relations

Five Days Darkness does not hate the Incarnae, especially not the Unconquered Sun. It's not their fault he cannot stand in their light. And the Solars -- ah, the Solars! Like tiny sparks of his maker's magnificient light. In a strange way, he loves and honors them as favored nephews and nieces. It was Five Days Darkness who tutored Shadow's Grace in the Ebon Shadow Style, and gave her the strength to be what her Exaltation had transformed her into. While he has less experience with the Lunars, he honors their role as the mates of the Solars and their continual striving to strengthen mortals.

Conversely, Five Days Darkness loathes the Dragon-Blooded, viewing them as contemptible children wallowing in the ruins of their parents' home. He takes a certain glee in mocking Immaculates in particular; no one knows how the god learned all five Immaculate Styles, but he uses them to full effect and has slain many monks seeking to bring down 'the avatar of the Anathema'. Sidereals have learned to give Five Days Darkness a wide berth as well; while there is no proof of Sidereal involvement in the Usurpation, Five Days Darkness isn't one to let such trifles as alibis stand in his way.

Five Days Darkness sneers at the Abyssals and Infernals, even those Green Sun Princes who answer to the Ebon Dragon. To his eyes, they are nothing but pathetic, twisted mockeries of the beauty of his maker, disgusting aberrations. He is canny enough not to engage them outright... but he is more than willing to whisper in ears and damage their plans with his own manipulations.

The Court of Seasons is the most hated foe of Five Days Darkness. For their insults and jibes, he will see them humbled under his foot. He laughs at their squabbling over the five days of Calibration, not knowing he has claimed it for his own.
