Ad-Hoc Modifiers

  • The ST running your scene has the right to adjucate ad-hoc modifiers to actions in the form of bonuses or penalties as they see fit.
  • If they are a player, you can appeal to a staff ST if one is on, but not if none is available. If they are a staff ST, you can appeal to Kukla if he is online. In both of these cases, you will probably be disappointed; staff are explicitly encouraged by Kukla to let scene-runners have room to act, and obviously isn't going to treat them any different. However, there are always exceptions to this.
  • Don't go appealing every little thing, or you'll come off as awfully fussy.

 

Rolling the wrong number of dice

  • If you roll too few dice, separately roll additional dice equal to the number of dice you forgot to roll, and add the successes together.
  • If you roll too many dice, remove a number of dice from your rolled dice equal to the number of extra dice you rolled, starting with 10's and moving on to successes. For example, if you rolled 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 and you were only supposed to roll 8 dice, you'd remove the 10's first and then one of the successes, reducing your total successes from 5 to 2.

 

Stunts

  • When stunting in combat, you stunt once per flurry, not per action, and the benefits of that stunt apply to every action in your flurry.
  • Likewise, when stunting your defense in response to someone else's attack, you stunt once and enjoy the benefits versus every attack in their flurry.
  • Stunt dice add directly to DV - i.e., a +2 die stunt raises your DV by 2.
  • You can't regain motes and willpower from stunts more than once per flurry - whether that flurry is your own or someone else's. If you're attacked by multiple people, you could stunt multiple defenses and gain motes from each.
  • If you stunt a defense, your stunt is a success (and thus you gain motes/wp) if you are not hit. Alternatively, if your defensive stunt clearly shows you being struck and shrugging off the attack, your stunt is a success (and thus you gain motes/wp) if you are hit but take no damage or other injury. Perfect defenses are valid means of ensuring you are not hit or do not take damage.

 

Thematic Consistency

  • Exalted is designed to have several unresolved thematic parameters.
  • Kukla reserves the right to define the thematic and aesthetic parameters of the game as he sees fit, and while he makes every effort to be open to feedback or complaint, sometimes he's just going to tell you that something is absolutely not appropriate.
  • The following make Kukla go completely crazy with outrage at how they violate his 'vision', and will lead him to look at you with exasperation and possibly make fun of you.
    • Armor that bares midriffs, cleavage, or otherwise is more decorative than functional. (This only applies if the armor is actually supposed to be protecting you; obviously you can wear decorative armor if you want, it just won't give you very good soak.)
    • 'Comedy' characters. This is not a comedy; this is a drama with comic interludes. Do not app a Prinny, a mime, a heroic mortal panty thief, or the like, please! We do not have a Jar Jar Binks, we have Han Solo and his snarky commentary.
    • Electric guitars. Essence guitars also. ('Electric' versions of ancient world stringed instruments, curiously, are okay.)
